Monsters Dwell
How can someone truly not care what others think about them?
As I grow older, I find that I am getting a little better about not caring what the world thinks of me.
My goal as a person and a human being is to develop an attitude that is healthy and strong. I don’t want to care what people think about me. Let me clarify that statement: I DO care what my loved ones think. I do care what my friends think. But I do not want to dwell upon anything negative that outsiders may think about me.
On the other hand, if it so happens that other people have positive things to say about me, then I want to embrace those ideas. I just want to dismiss negative ideas, and not allow them to penetrate my shield.
A friend and I were discussing this topic a while back. It seems that in order to truly not care at all, that one must become a sociopath. Is this a true statement?
How can I not care what people think about me? Is there a healthy way to do it, without becoming a monster?
